about phasmatic sims
phasmatic sims is run by kiki, a female simmer that lives in australia with her pet rats and great danes. created in november 2007 and hosted by the wonderful people at the wicked nouk family, phasmatic sims is a place for me to upload my creations that have previously been hosted on mts2 with a bit more freedom. now, don't take that as bashing mts2 - I admire what delphy has created in his site, I just grew to find aspects of mts2's downloads policies slightly frustrating and restricting. I will still occaisionally upload to mts2, but my best will always be made available here and on the wicked nouk family forum.
site policy · redistribution et al
for anyone with questions about my policy regarding modifications, redistribution and more, here is where I'll attempt to set your mind at ease and answer any potential questions you may have.
you may:
- recolour meshes and you can include the meshes in your downloads, provided that you link back to phasmatic sims and maintain clear credits - don't claim them as your own meshes.
- include my genetics and/or clothing in your sims, provided that you link back to phasmatic sims and maintain clear credits to my content that you use.
- include my objects in lots that you have made available for download, provided that you link back to phasmatic sims and maintain clear credits to which content you include.
- distribute my content freely on filesharing friendly sites and forums, on the condition that they are free sites only. you should never be put in a position to pay for my creations.
- only recolour my meshes, include my content in sims and my objects in lots on the condition that the creations are placed on free sites only.
- claim my meshes as your own
- edit my meshes without contacting me - my textures and alphas you can freely edit, but I'd like to know about it if you're planning to edit my meshes.
- upload my creations to the sims2.com exchange, paysites or TSR.
- claim my creations as your own or use them without credit
all in all I'm fairly easy going about my content and what you can do with it - I don't ask much of people that wish to create content based on my content but I do hope and expect that these requests can be appreciated and respected.
frequently asked questions
I have done my best to cover as many questions as I possibly can and to be as clear as I can in this guide - please read this info and hopefully it should address any questions or queries you may have, however if you have a question or issue that you do not find addressed here you may contact me and I will attempt to help you as best I can.
- how do I download / install your content?
- what programs do you use to make stuff?
- I have a request...can you make me this please?
- what's up with all the maxis stuff?
the content is in .rar files and requires the use of the winrar program to extract the files. objects and bodyshop content (clothing, makeup, genetics etc) are to be extracted as .package files to your downloads folder (C:/My Documents/EA Games/The Sims2/Downloads/ - replace the C:/ with the appropriate drive name). sims and build mode content such as walls and floors are in .sims2pack format and need to be double-clicked to open them, where you can then follow the content organizer prompts for installation. I strongly recommend the use of the clean pack installer that is available from modthesims2.
the programs that I use are adobe photoshop cs 2, SimPe, the bodyshop program that is packaged with the game, blender and milkshape with the unimesh plugin.
requests are a very grey area - generally people that ask for requests to be made expect them to be for their own personal use only and that's not really how I work; I want my content to be available to anyone that would like it and enjoy it. with that said, if there is something you would particularly like to see and it is within my creative capability (I'm not da vinci, lol) and you are not bothered with it being publically available on the site for anyone to enjoy, you can contact me and see if I'm willing / able.
some people despise it but I really love the quality of the maxis stuff and I think that all it lacks is a bit of variety - with this in mind, I tend to only really do maxis recolours of content unless it is a very high quality custom piece made by a member of the community (my holy simoly arizona recolours for example).
